My partner is soon about to undergo a karyotyping test. It is scheduled for the coming week and I’m a little anxious for us. Does the test entail any risks? Does she need any extra preparation for the test? I have almost no clue. So I’d really like it if someone can tell me what is the procedure for karyotyping?

In order to obtain a karyotype, blood (usually white blood cells) are taken.
From the blood cells, the chromosomes are isolated, stained, and examined under a microscope
