What are Types of discectomy.
Need to know what types of discectomy is used now a days. Endoscopic - for what level? Micro - for what level Open - for what level. Which one is safe and what is the duration of stay in hospital for each one of the above. What is preferred for a extrusion, herniation and sequestration level of disc problem?

You have a left sided L5-SI disc..with left root canal stenosis. You might be having left sided radicular symptoms. 1. Open/micro/endoscopic spine surgeries are done for all levels. These are just. Different techniques. 2. Endoscopic has least duration of stay and early recovery as it involves least dissection. (1-2 days) . it is even done as a opd procedure in some centres. 3. Open and micro also duration of stay around 2-3 days depending on level and technique. 4. Technique depends on surgeon and patients choice. Nothing specific for type of PIVD(extrusion, sequestration etc).
