Water flosser
I used to floss my teeth with that string type. I have pain in the jaw and a tooth was suspected for this jaw pain. The tooth #47 and 47 hurts in the tooth and gum area. 47 has distal 4mm pockets. So the dentist suggested water flosser. I haven't used that before. Is water flosser safe to use? They also suggested deep cleaning after starting this water flosser. Is using water flosser helps with tooth and gum pain? That tooth gum 46 hurts for brushing or even for pressing with fingers on it. Had root canal for the same reason and no changes. Same pain for any little pressure on it. Had retreat last week and same..no relief yet. Does water flosser help ?

Good afternoon.  Flossing is a very technique sensitive procedure. Many dentists have difficulty doing it perfectly. When you get in to habit of faulty flossing technique..you will end up damaging your gum. For now .stop flossing...apply hexigel and leave the pocket to heal... don't re irritate the healing gum. If rct done teeth is fixed with a cap... check for marginal integrity of the cap....if the cap is not proper..the gum will never heal
Next Steps
take an x ray to confirm the bone and teeth status

Hi Yes and no. Water flosser is not a treatment option if your gums are sore. You can use it later after healing just to maintain the hygiene. Your problem seems to be gingival which means infection in the gum. So, the gum needs to heal. Once it heals your dentist can check for any damage to tooth or surrounding bone. ( that can be detected with an x-ray).
Next Steps
Apply topical ointments like Hexigel mixed with mucopain. Just dab it 4-5 times a day on the site and leave it to heal.
Health Tips
Just rinse your mouth with warm saline water twice a day and avoid brushing hard or flossing in that area for a week.
