There is no as such high risk of taking vitamin b 12 supplements. You can take that. VITAMIN b 12 is mostly found in animal.products like meat, eggs, fish, even milk has some content. Every green leafy vegetables do have some but not a rich source. Best is to take supplements and long with proper diet
