Vitamin B12 deficiency
Hi, I have recently done a blood test in which my vitamin B12 is low. My results show 55 pg/ml with a normal reference range of 180-914. I consulted a physician who prescribed multi vitamin A-Z. Should I continue this or should I go for an injection to boost my level up. Or is there any oral supplement that is solely going to address this deficiency. Kindly suggest. Thanks.

Hi Low levels of Vitamin B12 is usually corrected by oral as well as injectable therapy. The vitamin B12 level of 55pg/ml can be corrected with oral supplements and will not require injections for correction. Additionally you can eat healthy diet with more of non veg food which are good sources of Vitamin B12. In case of further doubts, please feel free to write back to me. Regards Dr Prashik Meshram
