Using an NSAID while on warfarin therapy
I am on warfarin therapy because I have a mechanical heart valve (aortic). I know that using NDSAIDs while on blood thinner isn't advised, given the risk of serious bleeding. On Sunday, I sprained my ankle, and it has remained very swollen and painful since then. I wanted to ask a doctor if I could take an NSAID (naproxen sodium) for a short period of time to reduce the swelling to help my ankle to start healing, given the risk of using an NSAID while on a blood thinner.
