Hello, You are likely to have an umbilical hernia. If it is not bothering you much, you can wait and watch. A safe bet would be to get an ultrasound abdomen and consult a general surgeon. You will be given the option of either a laparoscopic or open hernia repair. Ideally a mesh needs to be placed to prevent recurrence. Hope this helps. Best regards, Dr.Sunay N.Bhat

Hi! There is only truth with hernia: it grows! With time your hernia will become bigger because of the pull of the abdominal muscles. A smaller hernia is relatively easy to fix. Larger the hernial defect, the likely chance of morbidity and recurrence increases. Being a hernia specialist I understand the implications of it.
Next Steps
Consult a general surgeon or a hernia specialist, if available in your city
