Umbilical Hernia of14.5mm

My mother has umbilical hernia of 14.5 mm and i wanted to know that which method will be good for the operation: Open surgery or laparoscopic surgery.How i can ensure that the mesh which will be used is advance light weight mesh.She is a diabetic patient and has thyroid problem also.

Laparoscopic mesh repair is ideal one. Regarding mesh you have to trust the surgeon. They will use dual mesh which is recommended.
