My mother in law is 50yrs and is diagnosed with diabetes type 2. My husband is only child , is he also having any chance to get this genetically?

Yes definately his risk of getting diabetes is more than compared to person whose parents don't have diabetes.. Ideally nowadays it's more  of  unhealthy lifestyles,poor physical activity and sedentary lifestyle.. With good healthy food and regular exercise he can reduce his risk for the same and postpone the disease So relax and do not worry about future but actively work in present
