Tooth seems to be tender
I hv a tooth with filling for years and so far there is no issue but Dentist told me i need RCT but she based on it being filled multiple times and the filling is big

Do u have any pain or sensitivity? In concerned tooth If yes that could be the reason, sometimes root canal is recommended based on the x ray finding, in case he/she took one. If your filling seems to be intact and working fine, you try finding out why is the recommendation in first place. Only big filling is not an indication for rct. Hope that helps

Every time a tooth is filled or a filling is repeated, the cavity has to be made wider and deeper for achieving healthy walls and floors for proper approximation of the filling material. It might not be possible to repeat that procedure multiple times. So the dentist would have advised you to be on the safe side of the treatment. Otherwise a simple filling without local anaesthesia can be attempted. Regards.
