More description is needed and a dental visit is required to assess the condition if pain is related to the tooth. Cavities can be internal also and can be diagnosed by a x-ray only. And only a dental visit can clear if its a dental pain or other than that.
Next Steps
visit to a dentist and get an xray done

hello,
you need to visit a dentist and get it checked. get an x-ray done. if there is a cavity, get it filled. if there is infection to the root of the tooth, get it treated. then get a crown placed over it.
Even if you dont see any cavity, there might be many other reasons for tooth ache. Like gum infection (periodontitis), discoloration of the tooth, wisdom tooth impaction(if its last tooth in the arch)
So i would suggest you to consult a dentist and find out the exact reason n treat accordingly.
There are many reasons for tooth ache without hole directly seen might be present in between teeth or may be gums related issues so only by consulting only we can come to knw
A logical opinion cannot be made based on the description that you have mentioned..... your friend needs to visit a dentist for a proper clinical examination and an x-ray if required...... cavities in the teeth might not always be directly visible to the naked eye....
Health Tips
do not delay the treatment because if not treated, the symptoms will aggravate in the future.....
You need to visit a dentist for a clinical examination and also get a x-ray done. Only the you will know the exact cause. The causes for the pain are varying such as caries in between 2 teeth, periodontal infections or a fracture.
The pain could be either due to caries in areas that are difficult to see or development of abscess due to a fracture due to trauma or fracture of tooth. A good dental examination and X ray is the only way to know. Start with a dental visit
Hello,
Mam,cavities can be present in the contact areas/proximal surfaces of the tooth which can be deteted only with x-rays.Also periodontal infections, severe attrition, cracked tooth syndrome... etc can cause tooth ache. She definitely needs a clinical examination.Regards,Dr Sumanmakam,Dental arts,Jayanagar,B'lore.
