Too much dryness in mouth
My father feels too much dryness in mouth . He constantly needs to carry water. He has snoring problem and snores alot. . Showed to some doctors but some told it's snoring problem and some told it's due to weight. He is obese

Obese and a snorer, your father might be choking during sleep because of complete obstruction of airway. Observe him during sleep. If yes he needs a sleep study and an ENT evaluation to rule Obstructive sleep apnea.

Dry mouth or xerostomia may be due to various causes. It may be due to medicines, about 400 medicines can cause dry mouth. It may be due to certain diseases affecting the salivary glands. It may be due to diabetes. It may be also caused by nasal obstruction and mouth breathing. The cause should be found out first for proper management. The mouth should be frequently moistened with sips of water. Oral hygiene should be maintained to prevent dental caries and oral candidiasis. Pilocarpine may be prescribed to increase the salivary flow.
