Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT. Based on the image and your description, the red, enlarged taste bud and irritation on the lateral tongue margin could be due to transient lingual papillitis or local trauma (e.g., biting, spicy food), while the growths under the tongue may represent inflamed salivary gland papillae or mucoceles—these are usually benign, but a direct examination by an ENT specialist or oral medicine expert is advised to rule out any chronic irritation or less common pathologies.
