If you could give the details of first injury i would guide you in a better way . With the present history given by you seems to me that you might have had a fracture during your first injury which explains the plaster . Now that the pain has recurred . This present pain might be due to arthrosis at the CMC joint due to old injury Or the pain might be due to a different cause altogether not related to old injury .
