Therapist follow up
Hello, My friend approached Practo and consulted with a Psychologist. She identified his problem as Borderline Personality Disorder. She also prescribed him medicines (don't remember the name), to start with 25mg and increase it each week by 25mg, until it becomes 100mg. While the therapist has prescribed some meditation etc, she has not followed up with my friend. It has been three weeks since the therapist last took a session with my friend. Is not the responsibility of the therapist to follow up with her patient, knowing that he is a BPD patient? While my friend feels better, and suggests to wait before the next therapy, I am concerned and worried. Should we look for an alternate therapist? Please advice?

It's absolutely fine to reach out to your therapist. I'm not sure what was communicated during the session. But most therapists encourage clients to take charge of their personal growth - which is deciding what they want to talk about, or when they would like to meet the therapist and follow up. It is possible that the therapist is not following up because they don't want to appear 'too pushy' and would like the client to take a decision. So go ahead and give a call.

Hello dear thanks for your approach to us, it's appreciable that you are concerned about your friend. I understand your situation, Certain times if it's first session , we the therapist may not be sure about the comfort and confidence about the patient, at the same time in our busy schedule we may not be able to follow up to all who have visited us. However they might feel we are enforcing for the sessions. Rather we would be eager to listen to positive changes from them and to help further. So please talk to your friend how she felt about the session . Added up as per my knowledge only psychiatrist or medical professionals can prescribe medicine not the therapist or cousellor.
Next Steps
if required you can visit psychologist for counseling and therapy also better guidance. take care stay safe 🙂

Hello! Appreciate your concern and care towards your friend. Often times, as therapists we may get caught up with our busy work schedules or we may also be anticipating and waiting to hear back from the client itself depending on how comfortable they are with resuming or contuining therapy. Please ask your friend to reach out to the therapist. It's absolutely fine to do so.
