Tears hereditary?
Are retinal tears hereditary ? My uncle has -3.75 number power in both eyes , and had a tear which was successfully sealed off . My power is -4 it has remained stable for years. I do have lattice . Without any holes or tears. Eye exams have been normal.Ever since I got to know that he had a tear I've been feeling nauseous that'll suffer the same fate.0

Hello Some forms of retinal detachment are hereditary and others not If you have lattice without holes then you need not to worry Just get annual retina examination done Doctor will do barrage laser for you if he finds anything suspicious anytime Consult local retina specialist if you notice anything suspicious like floaters,flashes etc
