I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat, MS ENT. Your description of sudden awakening from sleep with breathlessness, palpitations (rapid heartbeat), dry mouth, hand tremors, and cold body sensation occurring intermittently over the last 5 years suggests a paroxysmal nocturnal event. While obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is one possible explanation, other differential diagnoses also need consideration: Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), Nocturnal panic attacks / anxiety-related episodes, Cardiac arrhythmias or other cardiovascular causes, Less commonly, nocturnal seizures or metabolic/endocrine disturbances.
Next Steps
this is recurrent and ongoing for 5 years, a comprehensive evaluation nearby ENT (sleep study) and physician/cardiologist is strongly recommended to establish the exact cause.
