Sudden rise of blood sugar
Hi I m 36.i had a fever and cold for nearly 8 days. I took injection and took tablets still not recovered. Yesterday I went to doctor he told me take test for platelet count. Found sudden rise of blood sugar to 210 . My question is blood sugar rise can because of infection or diabetes.. I m a marine engineer I used to take medical every year aug2021 it was normal.. Please suggest..

You need to do HbA1c, if that is normal then we can say your high sugar reading is due to infection ( stress hyper glycemia ) But if your HbA1c comes In a diabetic range , this it’s unlikely due to your recent infection.

It's ok. Sugar will rise with any stressful conditions like fever etc. It will normalise
