I have been trying to grow my beard and sideburns since forever and i have had no luck in doing so , recently a friend suggested me to take biotin pills for promised results ..is it true ? More is it safe ? And off from side effects ?

Since it is genetic, you will follow the pattern of your family members. It can take more time in you. Biotin doesn't help here.
