Defenetly presence of stone in bile duct should be removed, ERCP best method to remove stone, I think most of stonez will be removed by ERCP, some time may need more settings and also expert ERCP endoscopist  for difficult stones. If failed ERCP in expert hand, can be done by laparoscopy by advanced laparoscopic surgeons  or may be open surgery if patient condition doesn't permit for laparoscopy considering age. All depends on patient problem, patient condition and endoscopist also laparoscopic surgeons expertise.
