Stent removal
My mother had stone in her right urethra. She underwent an endoscopy for removal of the stone and a stent was inserted. It has been 3 weeks since the procedure and the doctor has advised to get the stent remived after 5 or 6 weeks. I would like to know how long it takes for the stent removal procedure and if it is done under anaesthesia (since I was told that anaesthesia is not required for removal). Also, is it painful during the removal and are there any side effects like bleeding?

Stent removal for a female patient usually takes 5 minutes. Can be very well done under sedation or local Anaesthesia. Mild burning sensation while passing urine may occur after removal for a day.
