Squamous cell carcinoma grade 1
Medical history: Diagnosed with breast cancer in Jan 2022. Lumpectomy performed. Chemo and radiation completed by July 2022. Yearly checkup shows on issues. Recent: Hard tumour on nose since Oct 2022. Derma medication did not work. Biopsy performed in Jan 2023. Squamous cell carcinoma grade 1 diagnosed. Report attached. Question: (1) How likely is it for grade 1 squamous cell carcinoma to metastasize to lymph nodes/other organs? (2) What is the form of treatment? (3) My mother is taking medication for hormone treatment. Can that be a possible cause?

Hello maam. 1. Grade 1 cancers have a good prognosis. However it would be unwise to comment on lymph nodal metastasis solely based on the grade. It depends on the size, location, and some more factors such as depth of invasion, lyphovascular invasion etc. 2. Unless seen clinically, the answer wont be appropriate. For early stage disease the primary modality is surgical resection. Any form of adjuvant therapy, such as radiation, would depend on final post operative histopathology. 3. Unlikely. Hope the answers worked. Thank you.

Hi, squamous cell carcinoma of nasal cavity in a breast cancer survivor, we call it as a second primary cancer.. 1. Yes squamous cell carcinoma can metastatize to lymph nodes in neck more commonly and less commonly to lung and bones. First we need to see the extent spread of the tumor currently by using pet ct or ct scans. 2. Treatment depends on stage of the tumor, surgery will be an option if it's in early stage, chemo with radiotherapy in locally advanced stage,  in metastatic stage usually chemotherapy with or without targeted therapy or immunotherapy 3. Squamous cell carcinoma usually caused by using tobacco, but the hormonal therapy is not considered usually as a cause for it. We need more detailed clinical examination to understand her disease
Next Steps
please do pet ct or contrast ct of head and neck region and lungs to know the staging
Health Tips
earlier the stage of the stage of the tumor the chance of cure is high
