I have undergone close reduction using splinter for sprained and dislocated index finger. Is this procedure really helpful to make the bone realinged properly again.

open reduction or closed reduction is decided based on the degree of sprain, fracture or dislocation. ideally for finger dislocation with a comminuted fracture with opt for surgery. if its just a dislocation with sprain closed reduction works perfectly fine.
