Sompraz HP medication
I have been prescribed Sompraz HP for H. pylori for 14 days. Could you please clarify whether I should take clarithromycin and amoxicillin before or after food, and whether esomeprazole should be taken before or after food? I plan to start the course tomorrow.

Esomeprazole, the acid-reducer in Sompraz HP, works best when you take it on an empty stomach, generally before breakfast. Clarithromycin and amoxicillin, the two antibiotics, are usually taken after food, since this reduces nausea and stomach upset during the course.
Next Steps
Check the leaflet inside your Sompraz HP pack too, since timing can vary slightly between brands, and finish the full course even if you start feeling better early.
Health Tips
If you get persistent diarrhoea, a rash, or your symptoms worsen instead of easing, please consult your physician or gastroenterologist promptly.
