Somatoform pain disorder
I am a 20 year old. I have been recently diagnosed with somatoform pain disorder. I am currently taking pharmacotherapy for it. My presenting symptoms were sharp neck and shoulder pain and back pain. My symptoms have reduced in intensity. But I have a fear that when I stop treatment,  the symptoms will return. My physician has told me that slowly symptoms will go away, but whenever I google about this disorder, it always says that it can't be cured, just managed. As a psychiatrist,  have you encountered patients with complete resolvement of symptoms?

Hello, first don't google your symptoms. Doctor has seen  atleast 10000 cases before treating you. Everyone is different. Try doing yoga and physical exercises daily. Slowly your doc will reduce the meds and you will be ok.
