Soft cleft palate
My daughter has a soft cleft palate, undiagnosed on her birth. Came to know when she was 6 months old. She was facing sever feeding problem. But it was solved on its own. Now she is 15 months old and has normal health. So far she did not suffer from any palate related problems. She is active and has reached all the milestones at proper age. Now she is uttering few words like mamma, naana etc. As far as I know it is said that cleft palate babies face speech problems,If yes then how severe? Won't she be able to speak more than these 2 words . Is it necessary to operate her to overcome this problem or we can have any other solution for this like speech therapy etc.

Your baby seems to be doing developmentally fine. But ,I think pediatric surgeon or plastic surgeon or dental surgeon will be in better position to guide you. Surgery is not recommended in every case, if see has recurring infection and poor speech.
