Smoker cough how to get rid off.

Kindly suhgest me few medicine , as my father is a patient of copd , dibetic and little ckd 4 stage. Due to some weather change from last few days , there is shortness of breathing with white thick cough . No fever is there. As I daily use oxymeter to cheak his oxygen and pulse , oxyzen level is normal between 90- 98 but pulse rate is high its around 86 to 93 at day time and at night its more than 100. Hebis a smoker , he can't quite smoking. We tried many time but its not working. Even his suger pressure also depent on his smoking metarials. Kindly suggest me something. So , that we can handle it by home only .
