Small nodule behind my ear
I have seen a small nodule which is not seen from outside. When consulted it was said that it is due to severe cold that has been unattended. And was asked to not wash my hair during nights. It has reduced now but it has never happened before so, what is the prevention for this. And one side of my face is puffier than the other, the same side where this nodule is there behind my ear. Any quick tips to reduce and prevent it from happening? Thank you.

Could be an enlarged lymph node( which filters out germs and toxins). Do regular steam inhalation,  take tab cetrrizine 10mg daily,  tab combiflam one every 8 hours for 3 days after food. It should subside, otherwise consult online.

A physical examination is required. Your description is too general.

The nodule which u r Palpating is defense mechanism of ur body. It becomes firm when u have ear infection or throat infection or cough cold. There is nothing to worry if it subsides by it's own. If it's becoming troublesome then contact.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. The nodule you noticed behind your ear, especially if it developed after an episode of severe cold, is likely a reactive lymph node—this can happen when the body is fighting an infection. It’s good to hear that the swelling has already reduced. Avoiding hair washes at night is advised as exposure to cold and dampness can sometimes worsen such conditions. As for the puffiness on one side of your face, it might be related to the same inflammation or mild swelling due to the underlying infection. This too usually resolves as your body recovers, but warm compresses and staying well-hydrated can help speed up the process. To help prevent recurrence: Try to manage cold symptoms early with rest, fluids, and medication if needed. Avoid washing your hair at night or ensure you dry it completely if you must. Keep your immune system strong with good nutrition and sleep. If puffiness or the nodule persists or worsens, it’s advisable to get a follow-up examination. Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any more concerns.
