Slightly high Haemoglobin and Hematocrit
I got my CBC today. The results show:- Haemoglobin :- 17.2 Hematocrit :- 51 RBC:- 5.44 I have anxiety issues and was having headaches and fatigues few days ago but no other symptoms as such. I am an otherwise healthy male (28Years) with occasional smoking habit. Are the results alarming of any serious disease? Kindly suggest.

Your CBC results indicate slightly elevated hemoglobin (17.2 g/dL), hematocrit (51%), and RBC count (5.44 million/µL). These values are mildly above the normal range and are not necessarily alarming but should be evaluated in context. Smoking can lead to higher hemoglobin levels due to reduced oxygen delivery, prompting the body to produce more red blood cells.
Next Steps
Please consult If you experience worsening fatigue, persistent headaches, shortness of breath, dizziness, or vision changes. If your levels remain elevated despite lifestyle changes.
Health Tips
Hydration: Ensure adequate fluid intake and repeat the test after a week. Dehydration can falsely elevate these values. Smoking: Reduce or quit smoking to improve overall health and prevent long-term complications.

Hi Sir. elevated Hb, RBC, Hct. all point to increased compensatory Oxygen delivery by your body. it may just be due to your smoking (would like more information on an exact daily number) or maybe your surroundings (hilly area people have more baseline naturally). All this does not point to PCV (Polycythemia- basically RBC production cancer) if you are scared for that.
Next Steps
Contact me for a chat and maybe we look into this with more history sharing, lifestyle and I can offer a more personalized advice.
