Sleep issue in Autism
My son 4 years old has recently been diagnosed as PDD Pervasive Development Disorder & as Mild Autistic. He is not under any medication currently. Few days ago started occupational therapy. Since birth he had erratic sleep pattern, he is awake for whole night & he sleeps only at daytime at a stretch of 7 to 8 hours. He also take a nap of 2 hrs at anytime. How to fix this issue with medication or by any other method? Kindly suggest

This could fixed adherence to behaviors which is a part of autism...behavior therapy along with medication may help.

Hello. Sleep issues in autistic children are pretty common. Certain behavioral training methods can be tried. If not, medicine can be given for a few days to regularise and shift the sleep cycle. However, it has to be given with proper consultation with a psychiatrist under supervision. Good luck.
