I was sleeping when I suddenly woke up in the morning with my nose and throat choking. I was unable to breathe for few secs. I am also having anxiety. This has happened many times in past 6 years. Which doctor should I consult?

Are you taking medications for any medical conditions?
Any h/o Asthma , do you snore ? Any h/o allergy?
After these episodes how do you feel in your self ? Do you feel tired, headache etc
Sleep apnoea is more common in males with over weight.
You might be having panic attacks. Which needs further assessment and treatment.

If snoring is also present, and you are getting intermittent awakenings with a gasp after which snoring stops, you may need to consult a pulmonologist who will conduct some tests for sleep apnea
