Skin darkening
My skin on the forehead has these dark patches and the darkening is increasing slowly. On consulting a dermatologist recently, he suggested it was due to the concentration of melanin pigment in that part of the skin. Could there be another reason, maybe allergy to some food item that is stimulating it?

Hi You seem to be having frictional hyperpigmentation. This is due to repeatedly rubbing the area when you are sweating etc. Please pat the area gently when you wash face. Use a sunscreen regularly. Eat healthy and avoid junk food and smoking. We can recommend a good skin lightening creams for bed time use. These should help in 6 to 8 weeks. If you are looking for a faster option chemical peels and laser also help. A food allergy usually does not cause pigmentation.
