Identify the risk factors. Dominant or non dominant? What profession are you into? What activities you undertake with that arm? The daily activities are responsible for making your shoulder vulnerable which produces pain while exercising.

As per your symptom , it might be some kind of muscle tendinitis .......but not sure as physical examination is important to finalise the diagnosis.... X ray just shows bone related misalignment s in body ....for muscles and tendon....MRI is must to evaluate..... MRI only can be done if suggested by orthopaedic surgeon.
Next Steps
immediately visit orthopaedic surgeon or physiotherapist near you
Health Tips
immediately stop push ups or activities which are  causing pain.
