I am a smoker .. 1 cigarette per day from 5 years.
Recently I have started experiencing shortness of breath.
How can I deal with this ? I have already given up cigarette smoking. Apart from that what should I do ? Can I continue with 1 cigarette per week ?

Cigar smoking will definitely affect your airway. And increases the damage to airway.
Try to quit it.
Do breathing exercises. If not reducing, consult a pulmonologist as you need further work up
