First of all don't get panic with your current situation it's quite common but make sure that u undergo root canal treatment for that tooth as the earliest ,mean while use the prescribed medication and immediately inform the current situation to the doctor. Filling will not give relief for the tooth that needed to be root canal treated.
Next Steps
consult the doctor and get root canal treatment done.

If the root canal is infected this does happen. And pain is expected after the first sitting. Do not panic. You will be required to get your root canal completed. Meanwhile you will have to start taking antibiotics and pain killers  to relieve your pain. You will have to take these over 3 to 5 days.
Next Steps
For the type of medication you will have to contact a dentist as we cannot prescribe medication without seeing what the situation is clinically.
