This condition is called Telogen Effluvium. It's a reversible condition in which hair falls out after a stressful experience.
The stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Within a few months, those hairs can fall out. Types of stress can include any hormonal issues like thyroid or any major illness like Covid. It's a reversible condition but needs to b treated to prevent further hair loss. Another possiblity could b Seborrheic dermatitis. It is a skin condition that causes an itchy, flaky rash to develop on the scalp, face, or other parts of the body. Many people call it dandruff. Hi. Greetings. Hair loss can have a variety of reasons and needs to be analysed in detail with respect to history and examination.
Mostly likely, you are having Post Covid Hair loss in the form of Acute Telogen Effluvium. This usually improves in about 3 months.
Pls see a qualified dermatologist near you in person so as to help you with
1. Detailed history
2. Direct examination and hair pull test
3. Trichoscopy / hair microscopy
4. Blood tests if needed.
This is routinely followed by most hair practitioners/ dermatologists including our centre.
This would definitely help in coming to a conclusion about your hair fall.
Regards. Dr Govind S Mittal. Therapeia Skin Hair and ENT centre, Bengaluru.
