Severe Ear pain
Hello Dr from past 4-5 months i had ear pain 3-4 times..and every time there was fungal infection is that due to over use of air burds the Dr i consulted said that it can be a reason and i need to only use air burd 1or 2 times in a months pain is only in ear not in throat

Hello there...., Otomycosis is the medical term used for fungal infection of the ear....
Aspergillus and Candida spp are the most frequently isolated fungi in patients with otomycosis.... Factors that predispose to otitis externa include absence of cerumen, high humidity, increased temperature and local trauma - usually from use of cotton swabs...
The diagnosis of otitis externa depends upon the history, otoscopic examination and imaging studies....
Main line of management is topical antifungal ear drops, ear toileting, oral antifungal if there is any systemii spread and for severe cases.....
. Keep the ear dry and avoid scratching it with cotton wool buds....
