My son has severe cough from last one month. He got sick in October. Since then the cough is there(on, off). He coughs alot in his sleep. Sometimes spit sputum after coughing. Feels better after that. He is 3.8 years old. Body weight 14.1 kg. Please let me know if it is serious condition and what kind of doctor can I see for this?

Cough in a child could be allergic , infective or due to some other cause like GERD so it needs proper valuation before giving any medication .
Primarily you can give steam inhalation to the child for the improvement before consulting your doctor.
