Seasonal cough are generally due to viral infection or allergens, though bacterial involvement/ pneumonia should be ruled out. Viral infection generally has a course of 7 days and allergy remains as long there is an allergen. The treatment depends on the age and weight of the child none of which are mentioned above, nor are there any attached reports. If there is reccurent cough, asthma should be ruled out If cough persists for more than 15 days, TB should be ruled out.

Firstly understand that vistaclav and strepsil are two completely different medicines which cannot be switched for one another.  While vistaclav is an antibiotic which is prescribed in a case of bacterial infection , strepsil provides symptomatic relief from cough . In my opinion antibiotic should be avoided as there is no indication stated above.  Kindly go for a sputum culture sensitivity before starting antibiotic. Strepsil can be given to get some relief from cough .
