Serum uric acid level of 5.21
My mother aged 44, has swollen index toe from past 1month..on consulting Ortho specialist he asked us to get x-ray,various tests related to blood .. there were no observations from x -ray n from blood report he quoted serum uric acid level of 5.21 as the reason behind the problem and has prescribed Febuxostat tablets but it has been 5 days n still toe gets swollen at times if she is physically active. I am trying to figure out d reason behind this ..she doesn't have any history of trauma/injury to the affected finger and it looks like serum uric acid is within the range to me.. Could you please confirm whether serum uric acid level of 5.21 is the culprit here?

In many cases it happens that when gout attack occurs, patient's blood uric acid level comes normal in test report because what we check is blood levels of uric acid but problem patient faces because of accumulation of uric acid inside joint So reports maybe misleading
