I think my mother is suffering from schizophrenia. She thinks everyone is trying to harm her. She thinks people are trying to steal her things and her behaviour becomes intolerable at times. Can she be treated? We really need help.

It's good that you are recognizing the changes in her behavior and willing to take treatment. As these illnesses are similar to medical illness and occur due to chemical changes in the brain. These are treatable and there is no harm and stigma in taking treatment. You should consult a psychiatrist.
