Sadness when at home
My mother feels sad all the time and to add to it she has anxiety, very sensitive to anything we say. We try to talk to her, but I fear that when I do, I aggravate her problem, be it whether she is complaining about someone or something. I also know that as a family member if I try to talk to her and get her stress/anxiety down, it does not work. Should we consult a psychologist or a psychiatrist? Or is it something else?

Hi, If this issues persists for long and there is no particular trigger( incident) that you can identify, it will be best if you consult a professional. A psychiatrist usually prescribes medication if there are several symptoms of anxiety or depression or any other psychological condition. A therapist/psychologist can also assist in the diagnosis as well provide therapy to address the underlying issue for the problem.
Next Steps
To help your mother cope with her daily life stresses, try formulating a routine for her. Having a routine will help her stay focused and provide her with a stable environment. Encourage her to pursue a talent or a hobby. Try to engage her in conversations about her interests and plan some weekly family outings.
