Ringworm or jock itch
I have recurring ringworm or jock itch on my inner thighs. I've used clobetasol cream in the beginning and then switched to dexoderm in order to avoid clobetasol but dexoderm also has clobetasol propionate in it. It provides me relief but then it never goes away. I started using ebernet cream and terbinafine 250 mg tablets since last week and it looks like the redness is returning. It has spread to my glans. I have no itching as of now but it looks like it's returning. The side affects of the tablets are too many and I feel some of them. Please advise

You may be suffering from tinea cruris which is fungal infection of the inner thighs and buttocks area. It can be treated by taking four to six weeks of anti fungal treatment which includes tablets along with creams. Do not use soap over that area. Mistreatment with over the counter clobetasol Steroid containing creams like fourderm, panderm, quadriderm, hh zole, candid b etc lead to repeated case of recurrence and also side effects due to application. Do not use steroid containing combination creams. Please call me or contact me using online consult option with photos for detailed prescription. Do not delay treatment as it may spread further on your body and also to other people living in the household.

Thanks for the query. Fungal infection is becoming an increasing problem due to rampant usage of antifungals. Please see a dermatologist as some extra medications are coprescribed many a times to treat. If needed a simple skin test can also be done. Till then use only OTC anti-allergic medications to control itching. Personal hygiene should be good. Wear loose fitting clothes.
Next Steps
Fungal infection should be ruled out by meeting a Dermatologist.
