Right sided anterior mediastinal mass
Dear Doctor, I am 62 years old, k/c/o-Hypertension. My son took me for a regular health check-up during which opacity was seen in right lower zone in chest x-ray, and a CT thorax with contrast was performed. which showed a well-defined lobulated mass lesion(6.6x5.3x6.5cm) in the anterior mediastinum on right side involving the prevascular space. I would like to share with you, my CT thorax images for your second opinion to rule out if it is a lymph node mass or Thymoma or thymic carcinoma or any other possibilities, however I am asymptomatic. Kindly give me your opinion and treatment options. Dear sir, Any anterior mediastinal mass needs a thorough evaluation. From the description you have provided it could be any one of the things you have mentioned: lymph nodes, thymoma, GCT, etc.
Next Steps
I would suggest you to consider a few blood tests: AFP, beta HCG, LDH. Also get a image guided FNAC or biopsy. This would narrow down the diagnosis and then a treatment can be planned.
Health Tips
if it is a thymoma or thymic carcinoma, a thoracoscopic surgery can be planned, which would be the most painless option for the patient.
