Hi Sir, I'm scheduled to undergo fundoscopy this weekend, do I need to prepare myself for something? Is it going to be painful? I heard I would get blurry vision after the exam, should I get someone with me or i will be fine alone?
And is there any risk of eye dilation???

Fundoscopy is safe and painless examination. Doctor will instill 3 to 4 drops at the interval of 10 minutes after that examination will be done with bright light, Effect of dilatation lasts for 4 to 8 hours varies from person to person. You will not be able to perform near work for that duration and you may have difficulty in driving due to bright outdoor light. Sunglasses can be used to prevent glare or you can take someone with you to drive you home.

Hi
No prep required..preferably dont drive after check.
If someone accompanies you, well n good , else you can take a cab and go back.
Yes, the near vision especially will be blur for couple of hours, so prepare like that , you dont have any exam or reading work to do , after that.
Dilated Fundoscopy is a routine procedure at Ophthalmology Clinics and it's totally painless. The Mydriatic Eyedrops will Dilate the pupils causing some blurring for near more than far and the lights will appear bit brighter to you which settles back to normal after few hours. If you are going in daytime for the check up then carry UV protective dark goggles with you. It's better to ask someone to accompany you to drive you back home as after dilatation you are not supposed to drive or ride.
