Hernia usually tend to recur when the mesh or the muscles weaken, the best treament is use of support belts and surgical correction if the defect is big
Avoid strenous activities, lifting weights and squatting, sitting on floor

Operated hernias also tend to recur. Only treatment for hernia is to get surgically corrected. However there are aggravating factors for hernia like chronic cough, constipation. If she has them, better to treat the cause and get evaluated for her hernia and get treated surgically.
