Is it bothering you. Behavioral addition can be treated with psychotherapy. I feel you should do regular consultation with therapist if you are comfortable.
Here in Practo also you can consult with a psychologist who has good experience in that field.
Do a personality assessment also.
If there are mood symptoms then you need to treat that also. Let's have detail discussion for all evaluation.

As you have well mentioned , since it is a pattern , it needs in person intervention and consultation to understand the core issues origin and healing techniques to be applied.
