The Mantoux tuberculin skin test (TST) or the TB blood test can be used to test for M. tuberculosis infection and a  chest X-ray is taken to look for changes in the lungs that could show signs of active TB or scars from a previous TB infection.  If a skin or blood test is positive, doctors will take samples of sputum and look for the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis ,the results help doctors  to choose the right medications for treatment.
