Regarding Medrol usage
I had a case of tinnitus for 3 months, as per the current effect it seems like it's a venous cause due to which it happened. I visited an ent, he prescribed me a shot of renerve plus 1M, which i took. After that there's a little reduction in tinnitus(i had screeching sound, which is gone), now all i have is venous hissing/turbulent blood flow sound..) Then he has prescribed me Medrol 16mg (14 tablets for 7 days. Two tabs at night per day. I recently read about they benefits of the steroid, but it comes with so many side effects. I am not hypertensive but i easily get panicked and all when i feel any health issue.. Reading about side effect like water retention electrolytes imbalance, it really scares me.. So should I go for the course of the costicosteroid or should I ask my doctor for any alternative for this. I am really really worried should I go for it or not... Please help me out...

Hi, Steroids do have some side effects. But a short course Usually shouldn’t cause you much problem .There are some conditions which will only respond to steroids . Your doctor has advised a short course ( 7 days ). If it’s really indicated they would do more good than harm . If you are suffering and have symptoms I would advise you to stick with your doctors advise and go ahead with taking the medications Note : 1. You didn’t mention if you have diabetes or not . If you have the sugars might increase as you start the steroids you need to temporarily increase your dose after consulting with your diabetologist 2. BP might slightly go up in patients who have hypertension 3. You might have mild gastric issues . Might need to take an antacid along with steroid In summary , if it’s indicated .since it’s a short course . Follow the doctors advise
