Regarding anti venom for snake bites
We live in gated community where got snakes (posinoius) as surprise visitors. The nearest medical facilitiy is a government hospital which is 5-8 min drive. In worst case scenario can we expect any government hospital to have anti venom stock readily available? Or is there a way we can procure the anti venom from medical retails? Thanks

It depends on the type of facility- PHC,CHC. Usually CHC and above have it. You can ask the facility incharge whether they have it in case of any emergency

Yes.. Every govt hospital has.. Anti snake venom (ASV)readily.
In other countries, ASV are prepared specifically for specific snakes. But in INDIA, we can use ASV for all type of snakes.
Next Steps
ASV cause some allergic response for the patients.
so u should not procure ASV,better to reach nearby hospitals.
Some myths like tying ropes above the bite site shouldn't be done.Try to make immobilize the bite site untill u reach the hospital.
Health Tips
Other than.. Hemotoxic snakes (vipers).. Patients got bite from nuerotoxic (cobra and kraits).. Needs to be intubated (artificial airway).. if condition worsen. So better to go hospital.. Rather than wasting time.

Yes most of gov. Hospital at periphery they have anti snake venom.... You go near by hospital and consulting the dr. If need further clarity consult me (paid)
